Arrived in France in 2013, Black Friday is a promotional event that is much older than that. Indeed, it is from the United States, where it appears in the early 1930s. To revitalize the country after the Great Depression of 1929, traders began to offer a day of promotions the day after Thanksgiving, it was that is to say always on a Friday. But it wasn't until the 1950s that we really started talking about Black Friday. Several interpretations of this expression are evoked: one speaks of the crowded streets on this special Friday, while another finds the answer in the rebalancing of the accounts of traders who are making a lot of money that day, and therefore use a black pen rather than a red pen to keep their accounts. At last, another theory grants the authorship of “Black Friday” to the American police officers, charged with making the traffic and managing the crowds during one of the most complex working days of the year for them.
In any case, Black Friday means a day when promotions are very intense.
Over the past twenty years, the Internet has greatly transformed the event, in particular internationally: if the tradition of physical stores continues in North America, Europe and particularly in France, it is clearly among e-merchants that we find the best deals.

Black Friday: when is it in France?
The French date of Black Friday 2021 is the same as everywhere else in the world: it designates the last Friday of the month of November, that is to say the one following Thanksgiving Thursday. This year, it is therefore Friday November 26 which is concerned by the event. But you can get some great Black Friday deals before then. Indeed, traders have gotten into the habit of starting earlier, generally the Monday preceding the event: this pre-Black Friday period is called Black Week.
Online sales sites like Amazon, Cdiscount, La Fnac, Darty, La Redoute and many others have decided to take part in this initiative, with a starting signal that could be given this year on Monday, November 22.
And maybe even before: e-merchants always have surprises in store, and some might even start posting great deals the weekend before Black Friday.
A word of advice: keep an eye out and stay on the lookout for promotions throughout this period.
Cyber Monday: what are the differences with Black Friday?
After Black Friday comes Cyber Monday, since this new promotional event simply takes place the following Monday. This year, the date falls on November 29. Obviously, during the weekend between Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you can also expect to see some nice discounts. Unlike Black Friday which takes place both in stores and on the Internet, Cyber Monday is an event that is exclusively reserved for online shopping sites.
In fact, Black Friday is already taking place mainly among online merchants around the world: Cyber Monday is therefore seen as a way of extending this large-scale promotional operation a little further.
It is not uncommon for e-commerce platforms to keep some great new tips for the occasion: enough to motivate people to take an interest in them.
