It's already Christmas in the Bergisches Land - at least in Engelskirchen in the "Christkind-Postfiliale".
It is now open again.
On Friday, 25 kindergarten children personally handed over their wish lists to an actress disguised as a Christ child.
The children's wishes were as varied as their handcrafted letters: a basketball, a microscope or a glitter tattoo.
Or a toy dog, as Kaja wanted it to be: "It was good that we could be there," said the girl about the opening.
She was also happy about the uncomplicated and friendly contact with the staff: "The Christ Child was nice."
9000 letters already at the opening
"It's the best job to be here once a year," said the spokeswoman for Deutsche Post, Britta Töllner, about the campaign.
Corona is also an issue again this year among young letter writing.
"It's amazing how much the children get at home."
In many letters, the children wish that the corona pandemic would soon be over.
For example, six-year-old Lina wrote: “I wish that I am no longer afraid.
Corona scares me. "
9,000 letters had already been received in Engelskirchen at the opening on Friday.
Last year around 150,000 wish lists from 40 different countries arrived here.
Any child who sends the letter by December 20th will receive a reply.
To this end, 17 helpers work in the office.
According to its own information, Deutsche Post operates a total of seven "Christmas post branches".
The other locations are Himmelstadt in Lower Franconia, Sankt Nikolaus in Saarland, the Hildesheim district of Himmelsthür, Nikolausdorf and Himmelpforten in Lower Saxony and the district of Fürstenberg / Havel Himmelpfort in Brandenburg.
