End of power cuts.

As we revealed this Friday, in a context of soaring energy prices, EDF has decided to no longer cut electricity to its worst payers, regardless of the season.

Instead, the group will request, from April 1, 2022, a power limitation of 1 kVA, allowing access to essential uses such as operating the refrigerator or recharging electrical appliances.

“But the rest, heating for example, no longer works,” explains Marc Benayoun, director of customers, services and territories of EDF.

Each year, between 200,000 and 300,000 homes are deprived of electricity for unpaid bills, according to the National Energy Mediator.

Since 2008, the law has required all suppliers not to interrupt the supply of electricity or gas, five months a year, on the model of the winter break in housing, established in 1956 at the instigation of Abbé Pierre .

As of April 1 of each year, these same suppliers regain the right to cut for another seven months.

EDF claims to have favored for several years the reduction of power to the net cut of electricity.

What to also remember

  • Lisa's disappearance: many gray areas.

This Friday, the gendarmes of the Angers research section will again interview the 17-year-old girl, who says she was kidnapped earlier this week by two kidnappers while jogging near a forest in Mayenne. The doubts are increasingly strong among the investigators, who fail to corroborate several elements of his account. Inconsistencies that could be explained by the state of distress of the young girl, found in a restaurant in Sablé-sur-Sarthe 24 hours after her disappearance.

  • Aerate, aerate, aerate!

This precautionary measure, which was slow to appear in official recommendations, is still too often ignored, regret many doctors. The tests we carried out, CO2 sensor in hand, also show that the threshold is regularly crossed and therefore that the room is poorly ventilated. This context is conducive to contamination by SARS-CoV-2. The urgency seems all the stronger as the epidemic is on the rise in France, with an incidence rate which should return above the threshold of 100 this Friday or Saturday.

  • First press conference on Earth for Thomas Pesquet.

Pink and smiling, the astronaut, who returned to Earth barely three days ago, gave his first press conference this Friday morning from Cologne (Germany).

"It's going very well, I'm in very good physical shape," said the commander of the Crew 2 team, referring to the battery of scientific tests he is carrying out with his teammates.

The astronaut also revealed that he had had an emergency situation to manage on board the ISS: “We lost orientation control of the station.

It went well (…) it was my job to distribute the roles and we got the orientation back.

    "

The unexpected info

The concern does not fall back in Normandy. Despite extensive scientific research coordinated by CHENE, the wildlife conservation center located in Allouville-Bellefosse (Seine-Maritime), the causes of the death of hundreds of hedgehogs remain mysterious. " It's getting worse. It is even catastrophic ”, assures the director of this place. “In 2020, we had collected 440 specimens with a very high mortality rate. And in 2021, we are already at almost 630. ”The phenomenon is not specific to Normandy: it is observed“ elsewhere in France, and even in England, in Belgium… ”, according to him. If the origin of this worrying excess mortality remains unknown to this day, certain leads - such as viral and bacterial causes - have however been ruled out.Toxicological analyzes are underway to see if one or more products ingested by animals could be responsible.
