Google celebrates the Dutch painter Vermeer and does so with a doodle: on November 12, 1995, in fact, an exhibition was held at the National Gallery of Art in Washington with an exhibition of 21 of his works.
In the doodle the works are "The allegory of painting" (1666-1668) and in the center, a "Woman writing a letter, with her maid" (1670-1671).
On the right, instead, “Girl reading a letter at an open window” (1657-1659).
Johannes Vermeer, born in 1632 and died 43 years later, painted only 45 pictures during his lifetime.
A connoisseur and art dealer, but above all a painter, he worked exclusively on commission and never painted more than two or three works a year, which was necessary to support his wife and eleven children.
