National demonstration of construction workers in Rome to say "Enough deaths at work" and "Enough over 60 on scaffolding".

The initiative, decided at the beginning of last October, becomes in fact the first meeting in the square after the start of the joint mobilization in support of the proposals to modify the measures provided for in the Budget law, starting with pensions.
Among other points, the unions are asking precisely to strengthen the tools for early exit and therefore to recognize the construction workers of the social Ape with 30 years of contributions (compared to the current 36 years) and to make it structural for the burdensome "because the jobs are not all the same".
At the center of the event, the issues of health and safety in the workplace, in the face of the "massacre" that does not stop and that for the trade unions must be addressed as a real national emergency. In nine months, between January and September, 910 victims at work have already been reported to Inail. For Fillea, Filca and Feneal, the government has given some initial answers with the tax decree, but these are not enough. The trade unions are asking for the introduction of the Points license in the construction sector, using the single database of accidents, to reward the most virtuous companies and sanction, even in accessing public tenders and concessions, those who do not respect the rules. Implement an extraordinary Inail Plan, apply the national construction contract to all workers on site,strengthen investments in safety and introduce the aggravating circumstance in the Criminal Code, in the event of the company being convicted, for "fatal accident at work".
"We cannot continue to have a pension system that has brought the exit age to 67. We must introduce flexibility for 62 years. We cannot continue to have a system that has the same rules for everyone when the reality, the expectation of life is different according to the job. We need to recognize this difference and retire those who do the heaviest jobs first ", remarks Landini, from the stage of the event.
Landini also speaks of the need to introduce a guarantee pension for young people who "risk not having a pension worthy of the name. If we do not deal with this disparity and injustice, we risk undermining the credibility of the pension system. theme to be addressed now ".
"We must relaunch the initiatives on health and safety, with a national strategy to combat this emergency. We must stop this long trail of blood, a silent massacre. From January to October there have already been almost a thousand deaths at work: it is unacceptable", so the general secretary of the CISL, Luigi Sbarra, from the national demonstration of the builders on safety in the workplace. "Controls need to be stepped up, contracts enforced and more inspectors hired. Urgent action is needed. Safety is not a cost but an investment. We need a surge of responsibility. People work to live, not die", adds Sbarra.
"We still have too many deaths at work. The government has made important choices but they are not enough. We must continue to make the recruitments, ask an overall question that concerns the legality and safety at work. In the last 10 years we have more than 15 thousand deaths: I would like to ask, if there had been 15 thousand Mafia deaths what would have happened in this country? ".
Thus the general secretary of UIL, Pierpaolo Bombardieri, underlining the request to provide for construction workers the possibility of leaving, for early retirement, with 30 years of contributions, and not 36.
