Devastation on the streets of Neukölln: a drunk 22-year-old caused damage to more than a dozen cars while driving. Nobody was seriously injured.

The alleged driver of the accident initially fled, as the police announced, but was later temporarily arrested: A 22-year-old man rammed several vehicles in a rental car in the Berlin district of Neukölln and slightly injured a woman.

He was found to have an alcohol level of just under one per mille in his breath.

According to the police, the man was driving a borrowed Mercedes on Hermannstrasse late Friday evening when he first saw a waiting Golf at a red light.

He then reset again, turned off while the red light was still on and collided with a Renault Twingo.

The driver in the accident then raced on and collided with a Smart waiting on the lane that wanted to drive past an emergency doctor vehicle that was in the second row and was in use.

Due to the force of the impact, the Smart was pushed so hard against the ambulance that the emergency doctor inside was slightly injured, according to the message.

Other parked cars damaged

The man then continued his collision drive, bumping into three parked cars - two Audis and a BMW, before accelerating again and shortly afterwards again crashing into a parked VW.

Only after it hit a parked Opel did the accident vehicle come to a standstill.

The Opel slipped against a Dacia, this against a Hyundai, which was pushed against a Renault, which finally collided with a Toyota.

In some cases considerable damage to property occurred on all 14 vehicles involved.

A speaker could not give any information about the exact height.

The emergency doctor did not have to be treated, and no other people were injured.

Escape to the place of residence

According to the first findings of the police, the man is said to have obtained the rental car with fraudulent means.

Half-full beer bottles could still be found in the car, on which traces had been secured.

After the last collision, the driver and his co-driver initially escaped unrecognized, but could be described by witnesses.

A short time later, the driver involved in the accident was arrested in a dormitory, but released after a blood test.

Now he has to answer for driving without a license, driving under the influence of alcohol, negligent bodily harm and unauthorized removal from the scene of the accident.
