FORLÌ - A great female myth of our history, a mysterious and misrepresented figure: Mary Magdalene. She is at the center of the exhibition set up in Forlì that the Forlì savings bank Foundation, in collaboration with the municipal administration, is proposing for 2022 in the halls of the San Domenico museums from 4 March to 26 June next year.
'Magdalene. The mystery and the image 'is the 17th edition of the great Forlì exhibitions that have made the town of Romagna one of the permanent protagonists of national culture, bringing to Forlì, in the previous 16 editions, over one and a half million visitors, coming from all over Italy and abroad.
The exhibition itinerary, it was specified during a press conference, will start from the third century AD to reach the twentieth century with over 200 works from all the most important museums in the world. There is no great artist who has not talked about the Magdalene: from Giotto to Caravaggio, from Botticelli to Titian, from Donatello to Crivelli to Signorelli, from Tintoretto to Rubens, from Canova to Hayez, from Guttuso to Melotti, just to mention part of the protagonists of the Forlì exhibition. Masterpieces of all times that have imagined and figured the still unsolved mystery, which disturbs and fascinates, of a woman called Mary, connected to fundamental events in the life and death of Jesus of Nazareth. To her, Mary Magdalene, a woman in a time in which the testimony of women had no juridical value, even before the apostles,Christianity entrusts its fundamental message. (HANDLE).
