In November 2020, Bertrand Rossi should have inaugurated his mandate as director of the Opéra de Nice with a production of

Akhnaten

, the opera by Philip Glass, in a staging by the immense choreographer Lucinda Childs, an old accomplice of the composer of

Einstein on the Beach

.

The re-containment had prevented this show from meeting its audience, even if a streaming capture, behind closed doors, had been saved, Lucinda Childs overseeing the rehearsals remotely from New York, on screen.
