Police moved in after residents complained about disturbance of the peace.
Apparently a man had rioted in his apartment in Suhl, Thuringia.
The man did not want to open the door for the officers on Sunday evening and, according to the news site insuedthueringen.de, threatened to shoot with a crossbow.
And then he shot an arrow through the closed apartment door.
The arrow got stuck there.
The officials therefore withdrew and alerted the state operations command in Erfurt.
As a spokeswoman for the State Police Inspectorate in Suhl said, the man was in a psychological state of emergency.
At around 4 a.m., forces broke into the man's apartment and arrested him.
People were not injured in the operation.
The man is currently in the Hildburghausen State Hospital.
The investigation is ongoing.
