(ANSA) - BEIJING / WASHINGTON, NOV 16 - The first half of the virtual summit between the Chinese and American presidents, Xi Jinpinge Joe Biden, ended after just over an hour. The official Beijing media reported.
"We must avoid a conflict between the United States and China": was the appeal made by Biden to Xi at the opening of the summit.
The American president therefore wished to have "frank and direct" discussions with his Chinese counterpart to address the many differences through dialogue and an improvement in communication.
China and the United States "should respect each other, coexist peacefully and cooperate for a win-win situation: not only should they manage their internal affairs well, but also take on international responsibilities".
Xi said this to Biden, in the media report of the Chinese media.
China is ready to work with the United States to "perform a consensus and take action in order to lead the positive development of Sino-US relations," added Xi.
