After recording slightly undervalued numbers this weekend due to the November 11 bridge, the daily data from Health

"We are starting the wave," assured Olivier Véran on Tuesday in an interview with Ouest-France.

“This wave is European.

France is no exception, even if we suffer it in a delayed and even very delayed way compared to many of our neighbors because of our good vaccination coverage and the health history ”, he added.

Less worrying than in other European countries, French hospital data seem to confirm the words of the Minister of Health.

Hospitalizations due to Covid infections continue to progress slowly.

Thus, according to figures from Public Health France, 7,535 people are hospitalized due to a Covid-19 infection, against 7361 the day before and 6,851 a week ago.

Hospitals also recorded 647 new admissions in 24 hours, against 631 the day before (an overestimated figure due to the weekend and the November 11 bridge) and 409 on November 8.

In critical care services as well, the curve has not fallen for several days.

1,277 people are currently being treated there for a severe form of the coronavirus, against 1,257 the day before and 1,140 seven days earlier.

In the past 24 hours, 135 patients have entered it.

They were 144 patients admitted on Monday and 99 on November 8.

Public Health France also counted 19,778 new cases on Tuesday, the highest total since August 25, against 12,476 on November 9.

In addition, 48 new deaths due to the epidemic have been recorded by the health authorities against 49 last Tuesday, bringing to 118,276 the number of people who have died from Covid-19 in France since the start of the epidemic.

These figures remain however much less alarming than in other European countries where the epidemic is ahead as in the United Kingdom where 37,243 new cases were identified in 24 hours.

The "start of the fifth wave" in France, however, has gradually forced several French departments to reimpose the wearing of masks outside and sometimes inside, in addition to the health pass, in recent weeks.
