(ANSA) - REGGIO CALABRIA, NOV 16 - A police blitz was conducted in various Italian regions against presumed belonging to the Molè clan, one of the historic families of 'Ndrangheta: over one hundred precautionary measures requested and obtained by three district anti-mafia prosecutors, those of Milan , Florence and Reggio Calabria.
At the center of the investigation, during which a ton of cocaine from South America was also seized, the clan of the Piana di Gioia Tauro, the sub-branches in Lombardy and Tuscany and the projections abroad.
Groups that, although endowed with a certain autonomy, operated in close synergy. The offenses charged to the suspects are, in various ways, mafia association, external competition in mafia association, extortion, illegal possession and carrying of weapons, self-laundering, criminal association aimed at other drug trafficking, production, trafficking and transfer of narcotic substances, usury, fraudulent bankruptcy, tax fraud and corruption.
The investigations were carried out by the mobile teams of ReggioCalabria, Milan, Florence and Livorno, coordinated by the Central Police Operations Service. The Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Como Finance Police also worked on the Milanese branch of the investigation.
In Calabria there are 36 precautionary measures, 31 of which are imprisoned, carried out by the Reggio mobile squad in execution of an order of the investigating judge at the request of the Reggio Dda.
As part of the maxi-operation, preventive seizures of companies, real estate, land and financial relationships are also underway.
Investigators from the mobile team and the Operational Central Service are carrying out the precautionary measure issued by the investigating judge Tommasina Cotroneo in various regions of Italy and abroad.
