In ten restaurants in Germany, including in the Munich area and Berlin, guests can now order their desserts and drinks in reusable packaging.
The deposit price per package is one euro and will be fully refunded as soon as it is returned to one of the ten test restaurants and can then be reused in the restaurant.

At the end of 2022, the measure for less plastic and packaging waste is to be introduced in all restaurants in Germany.
The test, however, will only run until the end of this year.

With the new project, McDonald's is reacting early on to the statutory reusable obligation, which is to take effect in Germany from 2023.
From then on, according to the planned regulation, all snack bars, restaurants and cafés across Germany would also have to offer reusable packaging as an alternative to the usual disposable products for on the go.
