Orelsan unveils The Scent of Gasoline, the very political first single from his new album

2021-11-17T17:58:03.092Z

The Norman rapper is back this Friday with a preview of his fourth album Civilization, already pre-ordered in 50,000 copies. Today he shared the first single from the disc, accompanied by a spectacular music video.

Two days before the release of his new album, we were no longer hoping for a single from Orelsan.

However, on Wednesday he revealed the clip for

The Odor of Gasoline

, the first single from his fourth album

Civilization.

Produced by Skread and Phazz, this new title is pure Orelsan juice.

Four minutes of misanthropic rap which evokes all the themes that agitate France in 2021. Immigration, ecology, social, economic inequalities, violence and madness of social networks are on the program.

for November 19

As always, the clip is very neat.

Directed by David Tomaszewski, the video shows an Orelsan jostled by a crowd, in front of a screen projecting the themes evoked in the song, from yellow vests to the climate crisis to police violence.

An announced success

Civilization

is an authentic success announced. Without any particular promotion, and without single until today, the album is already a commercial success. The rapper plans to release fifteen different physical editions of his album. A strategy that pays off, since most of these editions are no longer available for pre-order. By counting, more than 50,000 copies have already been sold.

Before the announcement of his album, Orelsan had already been noted by the documentary

Never Show That To Anyone

, released on Prime Video.

Directed by his brother, who compiled decades of videos shot from the rapper's early days to his greatest hits, the documentary has met with great success.

To top it off, the Norman will embark on a tour of the Zéniths de France from January.
