A man died in thunderstorms in Sicily.
On Wednesday morning he was hit by a tornado in the municipality of Modica in the south of the Italian Mediterranean island.
A first reconstruction showed that the man went outside because he feared damage to his house from the storm, reported the news agency Ansa.
He was then fully caught and killed by the tornado.
Tornadoes, hail showers, floods
As has been the case several times in the past few weeks, storms with heavy rain and storms are sweeping across Sicily.
Tornadoes have been forming off the coast of the island since Tuesday.
Numerous Sicilians posted videos of it on the Internet.
In addition, some heavy hail showers and floods were reported.
At the end of October, three people died in severe floods in eastern Sicily near Catania.
In August, Sicily had the highest temperature ever recorded in Europe - 48.8 degrees.
According to official authorities, it is also unusually warm in autumn, which favors the emergence of strong storms.
