This year, members of the government will once again lead by example. The enthusiasm for DuoDay, an operation that allows companies to open their doors to people with disabilities, to train, for a day, a pair between a professional and a disabled person, is growing. For its new edition, this Thursday, some 29,000 offers from more than 7,000 companies and 28,000 candidates were registered on the dedicated platform.

Enough to far exceed the 10,000 tandems formed in 2019. The event returns this year to a face-to-face format, unlike last year, where the health crisis had imposed video meetings.

Despite this special context, 10% of people questioned in a survey conducted three months after DuoDay 2020 indicated that they had found a permanent or fixed-term contract or an internship.

This year, members of the government will once again lead by example.

Prime Minister Jean Castex as well as Minister of Labor Élisabeth Borne and Secretary of State for Disability Sophie Cluzel will be accompanied in particular by their partner during their trips to Chartres in a Guerlain production site - which employs disabled employees - , then in an Esat in Paris.

A handicap index

If, every year, new companies take part in the event, many are those which remain faithful to it, with more and more collaborators eager to invest in it.

This is particularly the case with Schneider Electric, which, since 2018, has trained more than 170 duos in all of its businesses (production, logistics, tertiary) and on all its sites.

“Our employees re-register from one year to the next and share their experience on the company's social network, thus making others want to take part

.

It's positive and it's an opportunity to deconstruct stereotypes ”,

notes Julie Legoubin, head of integration and disability mission.

One of her collaborators keeps the link with the disabled people she meets. Thus in 2018 a work-study program was offered to Thelma, then in master's degree in information systems management. Still in the group, she has now become manager of digital innovation and technology.

“No one is unemployable when he is well supported. Employers are not malicious but do not always know how to hire a disabled person, ”

emphasizes Sophie Cluzel.

During December, the Secretary of State should launch a handicap index.

On a voluntary basis, companies will publish the results of their policies in favor of the employment of people with disabilities, based on six criteria, ranging from their direct employment rate to inclusive purchases, including awareness-raising.

"What matters to me is to engage, to go from obligation to desire",

assures Sophie Cluzel.
