The south of Sicily has experienced real scenes of the apocalypse in recent hours.

At least two tornadoes hit the coast of the Italian island on Wednesday, causing countless damage.

In the Modica region, a 53-year-old man died from a vortex as he left his home to close the shutters of his house.

In Comiso, one of the tornadoes devastated a fruit and vegetable market and destroyed a gas station.

Severe thunderstorms, accompanied by hailstorms, then fell in the region of Catania and Ragusa, inundating streets and roads.

On videos relayed by the Italian press, we can first see huge downpours coming from the sea before turning into devastating tornadoes on land.

It also shows a motorist, speeding through the swirling debris in the air, filming one of the tornadoes moving dangerously only a few feet from his car.

For several weeks now, Sicily has been hard hit by a wave of bad weather.

At the end of October, two cyclones had successively hit the regions of Syracuse and Catania, causing torrential rains and extremely violent winds in which three people had perished.
