A video circulating on social media of a police officer who had an accident with a patrol car sparked outrage.

The police officer in Berlin reported on Twitter that the officer was in a "medical emergency" and died shortly after the accident.

According to matching media reports, the video, which has now been removed from Instagram, shows the man behind the wheel, gesticulating in an uncoordinated manner and screaming.

Someone - probably the end of the film - describes him as "completely drunk", as reported by the "Tagesspiegel", among others.

The man could obviously have helped the officer, writes the Berliner Morgenpost.

"The distribution of this video is tasteless & punishable," the police wrote about the recordings.

A procedure for failure to provide assistance is being examined.

Berlin's police chief Barbara Slowik also reacted: »This video is horrible, its publication unbearable!

It makes me stunned and angry, "it said in a statement.

Even if one were to misjudge the situation, it was "disgusting to create such a video in order to demean a helpless person - a helpless person in uniform".
