(ANSA) - BEIJING, NOVEMBER 18 - The two Philippine supply ships bound for the Manila marines on Second Thomas Shoal, part of the Spratly Islands, entered the waters of the southern MarChinese "without the consent of China", prompting the coast guard "to act legally to protect the sovereignty of China ".
Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said, on Filipino Foreign Minister Teodoro Locsin's accusations of using water cannons, that "at the state, the area around the Second Thomas Shoal is generally peaceful, and China and the Philippines are maintaining communications ".
Zhao has not confirmed the use of water cannons.
