Emmanuel Hondré will take up his duties as general manager of the Opéra National de Bordeaux (ONBA) on January 17, 2021, replacing Marc Minkowski, the public establishment announced on Friday.
Appointed last July to this post, the current director of the concerts and shows department of the Philharmonie de Paris, anticipates his assumption of duties initially scheduled for September 1, 2022.

Marc Minkowski leaves a theater in working order which has been able to cope with the pandemic, with a number of subscriptions never achieved in the history of the house as well as renewed and widely developed patronage

The programming established by Marc Minkowski between January and July 2022 is maintained, specifies the opera.
Conductor Marc Minkowski, a specialist in Mozart and baroque music, was reappointed in December 2018 for a second three-year term at the head of the Opéra national de Bordeaux.
His first term was marked by social tensions, especially over the issue of staffing.
