1604 students from the first year of secondary school from different governorates participated in the tests of the second phase of the new season of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, informatics and biology.

The tests set up by the Excellence and Creativity Authority at the same time and over a period of two and a half hours in different governorates included all the students who qualified from the first stage tests. Question forms were drawn up from the central scientific committees in the Syrian Scientific Olympiad Department, and the answer sheets would be corrected in an automated and centralized manner.

SANA accompanied the tests and monitored the atmosphere of the competition. At the Faculty of Law at the University of Damascus, the media advisor at the Excellence and Creativity Commission, Malik Hammoud, stated that the qualifiers from the second stage, with an average of fifty students in each specialization, will participate in the final qualifiers that will be held centrally in Damascus during the midterm holiday, and the winners will receive the best 15 places in each specialization. The honor of being a member of the national team for the scientific subject in which they excelled.

Also, according to Hammoud, 20 male and female students from the basic education stage participated in the tests for this stage out of 31 male and female students who participated in the first stage competitions, in appreciation of their winning the gold and silver medals in the Youth Science Olympiad 2021.

Former Olympiad student Loujain Al-Sager explained that she and her colleagues supervise the training of new students and inform them of the axes required in the exams and everything related to question models and scientific methods, in addition to encouraging students and pushing them to reach advanced stages and dispel the state of fear and anxiety that they experience before the exams.

The participating students, Osama Shalish, Aya Al-Omari, and Hadi Al-Ayed believed that the level of the questions was high and far from the traditional pattern and required intelligence and special analytical abilities, while Youssef Al-Rifai, Rahaf Hourania, Nagham Al-Ali and Abdul Rahman Hawasli expressed their hope to reach the final stage and win membership in the national team.

The competitions for the new season of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad were launched on the 23rd of last month, with the participation of about 6,000 male and female students from the first year of secondary school from various governorates in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics.
