The Syrian participation in the 2021 World Robot Olympiad resulted in winning a bronze medal by the National Center for Excellence in the Future Engineers competition, as part of the global competitions held remotely under the title The Future of Energy from November 18 to 21, with the participation of 217 teams representing 65 member countries in World Robot Olympiad Organization.

The Authority for Excellence and Creativity said in a statement that SANA received a copy of it today that the Saturn NCD team from the National Center for the Distinguished succeeded in winning the bronze medal in the Future Engineers competition, and the team included Ibrahim Mualla, Raneem Hassan, Jaafar Mia and coach Ali Junaidi.

The “SCS Eco-Din” team from the Syrian Scientific Informatics Society also won the sixth place in the regular competition, the upper category. The team included Walid Shaibani, Sami Maarouf, Karim Al-Madhi and coach Adnan Salahi Al-Asbahi.

While the Tesselers team from Sierra Robo club ranked eighth in the upper open competition, the team included Mahmoud Al-Hameda, Anton Farah Abu Daoud, Celine Abu Zarar and coach Suleiman Al-Awf.

It is noteworthy that five Syrian teams participated in this Olympiad remotely from the Ebla Hotel in Damascus, “two teams from the National Center for the Distinguished, a team from the Syrian Scientific Society for Informatics, and two teams from the Sierra Robo Club within the regular category competitions “elementary, middle and higher”, the open competition and the Future Engineers competition.

The championship is the largest and most prominent annual event in the world in the field of robotics, as the World Robot Olympiad is an opportunity for young students from all over the world to meet to participate in competitions and educational challenges related to robotics with the aim of enhancing creativity, problem-solving and other personal skills.
