A customer bought 136 stamps with a value of 550 euros from Deutsche Post.
But after a change, these are no longer valid.
She complains on Facebook.
Germany - A customer recently approached Deutsche Post via Facebook with an unusual problem: she had bought 136 postage stamps at EUR 4.10 each for franking small parcels a long time ago.
A total value of 550 euros.
But since the post office changed over at the beginning of the year, parcels can only be franked with parcel stickers and no longer with postage stamps.
Deutsche Post is changing a stamp rule: customer complains about an expensive problem
The customer now wanted to know from Deutsche Post how to return the stamps and thus get the high purchase price reimbursed.
However, it was not that easy to resolve their concerns.
Because as the company replied, exchanges are not possible.
The reason for this is the fact that postage stamps are value and not product stamps.
Which means that despite the changeover, they are neither expired nor unusable.
In fact, the stamps are still valid and could be used, for example, to send large or maxi letters abroad.
However, additional postage is still necessary.
Deutsche Post replies: Exchange is not possible
The customer is not alone with her problem.
Another Facebook user reports the same problem.
In 2018 he bought stamps for franking small parcels and was not informed at the time that they could no longer be used for the same purpose in three years.
“I don't send letters abroad.
What should I do with these stamps now? ”He writes in his comment.
Customer complains to Deutsche Post about the business model
The reply from Swiss Post did not help the customer either.
“I think it's extremely cheeky not to be able to swap brands for others.
What's that about?
Have I now given you € 550? ”, She writes to the company.
She doesn't send large letters overseas, and even if she did, it would still be a losing proposition for her.
“That's really a great business model.
Selling brands for a lot of money and then invalidating them.
Thank you for that! ”, She finishes her comment, disappointed.
Facebook users do not see the blame on Deutsche Post
Not all Facebook users show understanding for the annoyance of the customer.
So one asks himself: “Why the hell do you buy postage stamps worth 550 euros, obviously without needing so many?” In his opinion, the customer's situation is not the fault of Deutsche Post.
Incidentally, this increases the postage again - by the end of December, consumers should better use up the brands they have already purchased at the old price.
