How Time Time, Squeezie's Single, Became France's Most Listened To In Hours

Composed to respond to a challenge for the benefit of the Secours populaire, the schoolboy track ranked first in streaming. In Romania, it is also very successful.


The decade 2000 remembers the group O-Zone, K-Maro and even Larusso, which the number of listenings propelled to the top of the rankings.

Twenty years later, Squeezie, Lucas Hauchard of his real name, the most followed influencer on Youtube, has appropriated this artistically fruitful period to launch a new challenge.

Two groups have given themselves 72 hours to write and perform their song inspired by the 2000s. The first trio, called Trei Degete ("three fingers" in Romanian) consists of Squeezie and two artists, Myd and KronoMuzik. YouTuber Maskey, singer Le Motif and producer S2keyz form Ambiance Skandal. Each trio puts their song straight out of the 2000s into competition:

Time Time

for Trei Degete, whose lyrics are exclusively in Romanian, and

Offishal

for Ambiance Skandal. The titles are sold online but also in Lidl stores, at a price of 4.90 euros per unit.

"All the profits linked to the sale of these singles will be donated to the Secours populaire"

, Squeezie points out in his video.

The winner will be decided on December 15 based on the number of sales.

With nearly 44,000 sales, Trei Degete is ahead of its competitor, which stands at 30,500 discs sold.

Fourth in the standings in Romania

On November 15, the Trei Degete trio broadcast the clip of their only track on Youtube.

In one week, the video has accumulated more than 11 million views.

Well-marked special effects, wacky lyrics - the song is about watermelon - and kitsch outfits,

Time Time

is actually a tribute track to O-Zone, a Moldovan group who flirted with world notoriety in 2004, with their song

Dragostea Din Tei

On the Spotify and Deezer platforms,

Time Time

rose to number one in listening in France just 48 hours after it went online. The success transcends borders, so much so that the single ranks fourth in the rankings in Romania. In

, Squeezie claims to have even been contacted by Romanian nightclubs. What made him, at first glance, perplexed.
