DECRYPTION - This Tuesday, the Restos du cœur are launching their 37th winter food distribution campaign, in the midst of the fifth wave of the Covid-19 epidemic.

"Yet another winter - An ordinary winter - Families picking up - And grimacing soups - Still words endlessly - Oaths, promises…"

, the Enfoirés sang ten years ago.

Since then, nothing has changed, or almost.

Last year, the association founded in 1985 by Coluche distributed 142 million meals and welcomed no less than 1.2 million people in its 2,000 centers.

Half were young people and a quarter were single-parent families.

"We have seen an increase in the poverty of people we already know and have welcomed 15% of new beneficiaries, who would not have come to the Restaurants without the crisis

, alarms Patrice Douret, its president, worried for the coming months. .

We can clearly see on the ground that the recovery does not concern everyone and, in any case, not the people in a precarious situation who remain, as the song of the Restaurants says, always “the excluded from sharing” ”

.

All the ancillary services to food distribution (hairdressing salons, French workshops, integration projects, etc.) have reopened, but could suffer from new health restrictions.

"We will adapt our systems accordingly

, warns Patrice Douret, who will double the number of mobile centers to meet isolated beneficiaries ...

Behind the figures, there are people with needs and questions that must be answered."
