Bluetooth headphones are now compatible with the Nintendo Switch.
But how are they connected to the console?
The function was long overdue: In April 2021, Nintendo released a system software update for the Nintendo Switch + that enables the console to be connected to Bluetooth headphones.
Before that, this was only possible via the audio jack on the console and the corresponding headphones with cables.

, Bluetooth audio will be activated on the device.
To connect headphones to the console, you need to do the following:
Select the gear symbol for the system settings on the start screen and scroll down to "
Bluetooth

Audio
".
Under this menu item select "
Add device
".
The Nintendo Switch then searches for pairable Bluetooth headphones.
Make sure your Bluetooth device is in pairing mode, if applicable.
Bluetooth microphones cannot be paired.
When your headphones are listed, tap OK to start connecting.
If the Switch can't find your headphones, try again by pressing the Y button on the controller.
You may need to put the headphones in pairing mode again.

Nintendo Switch: Unpair Bluetooth headphones again
Once the device is connected, the Bluetooth audio connection should be established automatically when you turn on the headphones near the switch.
However, you can deactivate this function again.
To manage the connected devices under

.
Select the connected device and click “
Disconnect Device
” to unpair the headphones.
This will turn off Bluetooth audio and allow you to use any features that are disabled, such as controller pairing.

Restrictions on the use of Bluetooth headphones
Unfortunately, Bluetooth audio on the Switch comes with a few restrictions that the device warns of.
Once enabled,
only two wireless controllers
can be
paired with the console
.
You need to turn off Bluetooth audio if you want to connect additional controllers.
In addition, you cannot find controllers that are lost during the connection or change the handle or the order in the controller menu.
Only one Bluetooth audio device can be paired with the Switch at a time, but you can store up to ten devices on the console.
