From sport to legality, from the mafia to violence against women,
the 2022 edition of the Police Calendar
is created by the men and women of the Corps, policemen who have taken off their usual uniforms and worn the photographer's clothes, immortalizing some moments of life operational.
The calendar was presented at the Maxxi Auditorium in Rome by the Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese and the Chief of Police Lamberto Giannini. An internal competition was held to select the photos taken by the policemen and the participants were judged by a jury of experts made up of president
Roberto Koch and Rino Barillari and Tiziana Faraoni.
The jury selected the 11 winning images, with the only exception of January.
Among the themes that characterize the 2022 edition,
the month of January is dedicated to the awarding of the standard bearers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, Marcel Jacobs and Bebe Vio,
who will both be present. Sport is in fact one of the tools with which the Police spread the values of legality and inclusion through the multiple activities of the Fiamme Oro Sports Group. Their presence on the national territory with 28 sports centers located in particular in the most difficult and disadvantaged urban areas allows young people to train with athletes-masters, learning through sport the importance of respecting the rules.
The month of February is instead dedicated to the role played by agents during the health emergency due to Covid while the month of May commemorates the thirtieth anniversary of the Capaci and via d'Amelio massacres, a way to pay homage to all the victims of the mafia. who with their sacrifice have laid the foundations for the spread of a new culture of legality and justice. On the other hand, the month of November is dedicated to gender-based violence, the one in which the world day against violence against women occurs: an image was chosen that captures the sensitivity with which this issue is addressed daily by women and men of the Police .
The proceeds from the sale of the calendar will go to the UNICEF committee's project "Covax for equitable and global access to vaccines" which will allow the vaccination campaign to be extended to children in the poorest countries in the world.
A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the "Marco Valerio" Assistance Plan reserved for the minor children of State Police employees suffering from serious chronic diseases.
