(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 22 - "It is above all among the domestic walls that women risk being subjected to violence, as has happened more frequently during the period of confinement imposed by the pandemic.
Unfortunately we are facing a structural and non-emergency phenomenon : 111 women were killed in family / affective areas in 2018, 94 in 2019 and 99 in 2020. Almost one victim every 3 and a half days. We must therefore ask ourselves today what we must and can do to tackle this serious and unacceptable plague ".
This was stated by the President of the Chamber Roberto Fico opening a conference in Montecitorio on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on the decade of the Istanbul Convention.
