Israel is back on the gas when it comes to corona vaccination.

As with the start of the first immunization campaign against Covid-19 last winter and with boosters, the small country on the Mediterranean is also a pioneer with children - together with the USA.

Five to eleven year olds are now asked to use the needle.

A matter of course for these parents.

Lyn Sonod, mother: “I have come to have my two youngest children vaccinated.

I have already had my older children vaccinated.

I believe we have to think of society as a whole. "

Katy Bai Shalom, mother: “We have to get vaccinated to get back to life.

We were in quarantine for a long time and the children are going to school.

They meet other children and they have a lot of social activities.

We are happy that with the vaccination we can give them back a normal life. "

A look at the figures shows why the Israeli health authorities are forcing children to be vaccinated: Almost half of all current infections are caused by this previously completely unvaccinated population group.

Immunizing them could be the crucial step towards herd immunity, the government believes.

With an early boost to those who had already been vaccinated twice, Israel succeeded in breaking the fourth wave among adults at the beginning of autumn.

However: According to the Israeli media, the demand for the vaccination for children (

emphasis on children) was

rather low on the first day.
