 Italy is behind on gender equality compared to other large European countries.

According to a survey by the Demopolis Institute, for 81% of Italian citizens it is an important issue, but only 25% believe that gender equality has been achieved in our country.

Hence the idea of ​​saying enough to Basta with the "manel": conferences, commissions, committees, debates, TV broadcasts where only men are invited to speak, where only one genre is represented.


    "The public debates of men only are poorer, they bring one less idea", underlined the Minister of the South, Mara Carfagna, during the debate, organized on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, in which Rai Radio1, with the Representation of the European Commission in Italy, presented the Memorandum of Understanding "No Women No Panel - Without Women No If It Speaks" for an equal and balanced representation in communication activities.


    Many institutions involved, who joined and contributed to the drafting of the document, which required a year of work. Among these, the Head of State Sergio Mattarella, who sent a large format medal of the Presidency of the Republic for the occasion. "Let's go forward - said the director of Radio Uno and Gr Simona Sala - so that this idea of ​​openness is applied more and more, so that every time an event, a convention or a task force is organized, the representation of type".


    The event also served as a reminder of the measures that the government has implemented to accelerate the fight against violence against women. These also include the escort for the victims of violence who have denounced and the possibility of using European resources to strengthen innovative technological tools for the protection of women, in addition to those already existing, such as the electronic bracelet. Interventions listed by the Southern Minister Mara Carfagna, together with "a reward for those municipalities that will donate the confiscated places to the mafia to use as centers for the protection of women", on the basis of a public tender that allocates 250 million euros.


    The two ministers attended the conference in which Rai Radio1, with the Representation in Italy of the European Commission, presented the Memorandum of Understanding "No Women No Panel - Without Women Non Se Parla" for an equal and balanced representation in the activities of communication.
