68% of Italians can't wait to go back for lunch and dinner outside the home with the arrival of the Christmas and New Year holidays. This is what emerges from the first Coldiretti / Censis Report on the eating habits of Italians with reference to the hypothesis of a reinforced green pass being examined by the Government. "With the advancement of the infections and the possible change of color are at risk - highlights Coldiretti - 5 billion spent in restaurants and farmhouses for lunches and dinners on the end of the year holidays in one of the approximately 360 thousand restaurants, trattorias, pizzerias, agritourisms from north to south of the peninsula where the danger of a return of restrictions due to the resumption of infections increases ". "It is not just a question of the need for conviviality but also of guaranteeing the recovery of the economy and the stability of theemployment "denounces the president of Coldiretti Ettore Prandini in underlining the need" not to undermine a supply chain that employs 4 million people in 740 thousand farms and 70 thousand food industries ". The closures would, in fact, slow the recovery of catering, Coldiretti underlines, already among the sectors most damaged by the pandemic with the food consumption of Italians outside the home which in 2020 fell to a minimum for at least a decade with an unprecedented crack for bars, restaurants, trattorias and farmhouses which have halved turnover (-48%) for an overall loss of almost 41 billion euros, but the situation has a cascading impact on the entire agri-food system with over a million kilos of wine and food unsold in the year of the pandemic. The drastic reduction in activity, Coldiretti notes, weighs on the sale of many agri-food products, from wine to beer, from meat to fish, from fruit to vegetables which find an important outlet market in out-of-home consumption.
