Launching the Alternative Learning Program for Syrian Youth Out of School

Damascus, SANA- The Ministry of Education launched today the first phase of an alternative learning program for young Syrian adults

Today, the Ministry of Education launched the first phase of an alternative learning program for out-of-school adult Syrian youth, in cooperation with the Ministries of Culture, Social Affairs and Labour.

The program aims to improve reading, writing, arithmetic and life skills and develop competency for the target age group from 15 to 24 years, in order to obtain decent jobs in the labor market later in a manner that expands the scope of government efforts in the future.

And the Assistant Minister of Education, Dr. Eng. Mahmoud Bani Al-Marjah, indicated that it was agreed with the partners to launch the first phase of the program in Damascus and its countryside and Aleppo, and it aims to train 120 teachers in Damascus, 120 in its countryside and 113 in Aleppo.

According to Bani al-Marjah, the next phase of the training program targets young people in the central prison and juveniles with the aim of rehabilitating them to be active members of society, followed by training 5,000 young men and women who were not allowed to complete their education.
