'Merkel wanted a lockdown immediately, no of the new government'

(ANSA) - BERLIN, NOVEMBER 24 - In a Germany overwhelmed by Covid, Angela Merkel wanted an immediate lockdown until December 8.

This is what the chancellor asked the fans of the future government yesterday at the chancellery, in a very confidential meeting with the SPD, the Greens and the Liberals, according to what Bild reports today.

But the leaders of the three parties, who have a majority in the Bundestag, rejected the request.
