The Stuttgart public prosecutor's office is investigating one of the highest-ranking police officers in Baden-Württemberg.
A spokeswoman for the prosecution told SPIEGEL that he has been accused of sexual harassment and an investigation is ongoing.
The Interior Ministry itself had made the case public in a communication.
Accordingly, it is about the suspicion of crimes against the "sexual self-determination" of an employee of the state police headquarters.
The suspect may have abused his position as a public official.
Disciplinary proceedings are pending against the top official and he has been banned from performing his duties.
The public prosecutor's office and the Ministry of the Interior did not provide any further information.
Even if the suspect got involved and whether he denies the allegations, they did not say when asked.
