Instagram tries to modernize its main function, that of sharing photos, by adding sounds and music to user posts. An option that is already active for Stories and Reels, respectively temporary and video contents, accessible from a special section. Adding audio to wall posts is already being tested in some countries, such as Turkey, India and Brazil. This can be seen from a series of screenshots published by users and then confirmed by Roxanne Chinoy, Strategic Partner Manager of Reels Content Strategy & Community of Instagram. The manager shared screenshots showing the steps required to insert music, similar to those in place for Reels and Stories.
In the post editing menu, along with the choice of text, location and people tags, a new "add music" menu will appear. At that point, you can choose between the most recent and popular songs or your favorite ones, looking for them with the upper lens. Just like with Reels, the song title will appear in the post header, and upon clicking on it, you will be directed to an audio page where you can view all of the feed posts that have used that particular track. Among the other innovations being tested on Instagram, there is also "Take a Break", to limit the time spent on the app, and the closure of Threads, an application separate from the main one that was expressly used to publish photos quickly , whose functions will be transferred to Instagram itself.
