London police fired two officers for sharing photos of the bodies of a satanic double murder in chats.
The men, aged 33 and 47, behaved grossly wrong, said Assistant Commissioner Helen Ball of the Metropolitan Police at the end of an internal investigation.
“I am sorry that our officers behaved in such a hurtful, disrespectful and criminal manner.
Your actions are shameful. "
Both men face jail sentences in civil proceedings.
The case had sparked outrage across the country.
The officers were assigned to a cordon after the bodies of two sisters were discovered in a London park in June 2020.
However, the men left their positions and used their cell phones to take photos of the bodies, including his selfie.
They sent the pictures to several colleagues and also to acquaintances outside the police.
The killer of the two sisters, the now 19-year-old Satanist Danyal H., was sentenced to at least 35 years in prison at the end of October.
