Through online fraud, a 27-year-old stole train tickets for Deutsche Bahn worth over 50,000 euros.

As investigations by the Dortmund federal police showed, the native of Schleswig-Holstein generated fictitious bank accounts at real banks and obtained the tickets through them.

He is said to have resold the tickets or used them himself in the period from April 2020 to October 2021.

Email address led to the suspect

Accordingly, Deutsche Bahn had sent the federal police a list of bookings for online tickets and filed a criminal complaint.

During the investigation, a recurring e-mail address was noticed.

Data from the provider ultimately led to the suspect.

According to the federal police, further investigations and a search of the apartment corroborated the suspicion that the 27-year-old illegally obtained over 500 online tickets.

Three confiscated cell phones are now being evaluated.

The suspect was silent about the allegations.
