(ANSA) - STOCKHOLM, NOVEMBER 24 - The leader of the Social Democrats Magdalena Andersson has been appointed prime minister by the Swedish parliament, thus becoming the first woman to lead Sweden.
54-year-old former finance minister in the government of Stefan Lofven, she was elected with 117 votes in favor, 57 abstentions and 174 against.
Under the Swedish system, a candidate for prime minister does not need a favorable majority, as long as he does not have the opposite one.
