Torres is one of the largest and best known of Spanish wineries. A family winery founded in 1870 in Pandas, has gained world fame over the years, holds a huge mass of vineyards in various regions, maintains a spur on the other side of the ocean, and produces lots of wine labels: from simple and basic to tall and expensive, from classic to modern. Torres has a number of very well-known brands whose name is also carried among the general public and not only by wine connoisseurs. The first and classic of which is "Sangra di Toro". "Vinya Emerald" is like that too. What has made Torres a name even in high wine contexts is the wines from the Mas del Plana estate. All of these wines and more are reviewed in this list. In fact, it would have been easy to dedicate two reviews to Torres wines imported to the country as well. The wines selected for the current review are mostly cheap - NIS 52-79 - most of which provide wonderful value for money and can be used as an excellent house wine or unpretentious glass wine for restaurants.There are also two tall varieties - Chardonnay from the Millamanda estate and Cabernet Sauvignon from Mas del Plana. Both are expensive, both are great. for life!

Torres, Sangre de Toro Original 2019
Without a few words about astringency it is impossible:
Grenache and Carignan grapes from vineyards in Catalonia.
Half a year in French and American oak barrels.
Deep red color.
In the nose red fruit (strawberry and raspberry) and spices (black pepper).
Light-medium body.

Torres, Vina Esmeralda Rose 2019
Without a few words about astringency it is impossible: a
dried rose based on granache from vineyards in Catalonia.
Soft pink color.
In the nose red fruit and flowers.
Light body.

Best for:
salads, cheese sandwiches, pizza.
What the reviewer said:
Rosa is light, floral and pleasant, with a slight ticking at the edges.
Pleasant acidity, some crispiness and plenty of grace.

3.5 / 5 (good).

Torres, Coronas, Tempranillo 2017
Without a few words about astringency it is impossible:
Tempranillo grapes with a little Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in the Coronas area.
9 months aging in French and American oak barrels.
Dark red color, prone to black.
In the nose black fruit and spices.
Medium body.

ripe cheeses, minute steak, hamburger, "on the fire".
What the reviewer said:
A body with a lot of presence, even if not condensed.
Fruit is very present, but not too extroverted.

Good fruit, excellent aromaticity, the florality from the nose is also noticeable on the palate, and an excellent gastronomic factor.
A particularly successful food wine that will hold up well to any fish and seafood meal and will well accompany a proper sushi platter as well.

Torres, Milamanda Chardonay 2016
Without a few words about astringency it is impossible:
100% Chardonnay from the Milmanda area in Pandas (between Tarragona and Lleida) in Catalonia, from a vineyard over 40 years old, at an altitude of 500 m.
Fermentation in French oak barrels.
Aging for 4-6 months in 300 liter barrels (60% of which are new) and then another ten months in containers.
Bright golden color.
In the nose white fruit, lemon, a little vanilla.

Best for:
fish, seafood, oysters, lobster.
What the reviewer said:
Massive body, excellent acidity, unequivocal minerality, clear salinity touch, a degree of ceramics and a wood that has not been brutally used.
A really great wine for invested meals from the sea.
Potential aging for at least 5 years, under proper storage conditions.

18 months aging in French oak, mostly new.
A very dark deep red color.

Best for:
Meats of all kinds: steaks, stale cuts on bone, lamb stews and beef.
What the reviewer said:
This wine should be sipped after breathing for at least half an hour.
An hour is better.
Then you discover a mushy body, delicate black fruit, soft red fruit and delicate spices, complexity, elegance and wonderful softness.
It should also be remembered that in terms of such wines it is almost baby wine.
Its aging potential, under proper storage conditions, is quite long.
He has at least seven more years, it would not be too absurd to gamble on even ten.
But even the knocking winter, alongside an excellent meat meal, would be a decent time to get the cork out of it.
Excellent Cabernet Sauvignon.
