On a construction site near Gollhofen in Bavaria, a passenger train hit a railway worker and was fatally injured.
This was announced by the Central Franconian police headquarters.
The train driver had triggered warning signals, but could no longer prevent the collision.
According to the information, the worker was probably too close to the tracks.
The 46-year-old succumbed to his injuries on site.
The train driver suffered a shock and was treated by an emergency doctor.
The other workers and passengers on the train were also looked after through pastoral care.
The railway line has been closed.
