(ANSAMed) - BEIRUT, NOVEMBER 25 - With the declared aim of improving the effectiveness of humanitarian interventions in Syria, the US State Department announced that it has decided on a series of amendments to the package of economic and commercial sanctions imposed on several occasions against the authorities of the central government of Damascus.
The Treasury Department now provides greater room for maneuver for local non-governmental organizations engaged in humanitarian projects and non-profit activities.
Syrian organizations financed by the United States will in some cases be able to conduct transactions with the central government, while this opportunity has been prevented for years for political reasons.
