In the days of Black Friday, and close to shopping for the Christmas period, the web is the king. The bulk of Italians buy online or in any case inquire on the web before going to the store, a place where they can quickly make purchases, reducing the length of stay. According to a survey commissioned by Google to Ipsos Canada, the persistence of preferring online is one of the consequences of the pandemic, coupled with the reduction in per capita spending per consumer. The American giant, together with the research company, analyzed the trends in the purchasing habits of 16 markets in the world, including Italy. It emerges that, for 42% of the Italians interviewed, between 300 and 1,000 depending on the questions asked, the pandemic had an impact on the organization of shopping during the holidays.

Given that it is consolidated by the 40% who said they want to spend less due to the effects of Covid-19 on their economy. 71% of the survey participants decided to plan their purchases in advance in order to avoid crowds, 55% try to concentrate the outings dedicated to shopping while 57% of Italians will be more careful about how they spend their money. At the same time, 35% of respondents looked for discounts, offers or promotions online in advance. And digital is now a key space for consumers: 48% say they will buy more online over the holidays, with 57% using the internet to find new ideas and inspirations for gifts. 53% of respondents stressed that before going to the store to purchase a certain product,check on the site that it is actually available.
