Some employers pay their employees a corona bonus.

This regulation was initially limited to June 30, 2021.
For employees, however, there was good news in May: The regulation was
extended until March 31, 2022.

Tax-free corona bonus of up to 1,500 euros for employees
The maximum limit, however, is still 1,500 euros
, as the German Press Agency (dpa) further described.
In other words: Anyone who has already received 1,500 euros as a corona bonus from their employer in 2020 cannot receive another tax-free payment in 2021 or 2022.

Corona bonus can be granted until 2022
But there is one possibility: If a company paid its employees a corona bonus of 1,000 euros in 2020, a bonus of 500 euros could now be granted until March 31, 2022, according to the dpa report.
If no corona bonus was granted in 2020
, the maximum amount may
be used by
March 31, 2022
.
