According to the German Weather Service (DWD), the onset of winter expected in Germany for the first weekend in Advent will hit Berchtesgadener Land and the Allgäu in particular.
Up to 30 centimeters of snow can fall there by Monday, as a DWD meteorologist said on Friday in Offenbach.
According to this, five to ten centimeters of snow are also expected in the western low mountain ranges.
The Eifel, the Hunsrück, the Westerwald and the Siegerland are particularly affected.
In the lower regions of Germany, however, there is hardly any snow left because of the comparatively mild temperatures.
"It will mostly stay there when it rains, maybe a wet snowflake will be added," said the meteorologist.
The snow line is likely to be around 300 meters on Sunday.
According to the information, the coming week will still bring shower-like precipitation, which will turn into snow above 300 to 400 meters.
Only in northern Germany does it usually stay dry.
The maximum temperatures fluctuate between one and five degrees, in the mountains there is slight permafrost.
