(ANSA) - PARIS, NOV 26 - The French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, canceled the meeting with the British colleague, Priti Patel, scheduled for Sunday in Calais to discuss the dossier on migrants, in response to Prime Minister BorisJohnson who asked Paris to take back immigrants arriving in Great Britain. In a message to Patel, Darman insists that if the British Prime Minister's letter to French President Emmanuel Macron is a "disappointment", the fact of having made it public "is even worse".
Yesterday, Johnson asked France to take back immigrants arriving illegally in Britain to resolve the immigration problem, hours after Paris announced a meeting scheduled for Sunday in Calais.
The ministers responsible for immigration from Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, as well as the European Commission, were invited to the meeting.
"We consider the public letter of the British Prime Minister inadmissible and contrary to our discussions between the counterparties. Consequently, Priti Patel is no longer invited to the inter-ministerial meeting on Sunday which is kept in the format: France-Belgium-Netherlands-Germany-European Commission", reports the entourage by Gérald Darmanin.
