(ANSA) - MILAN, NOV 26 - The new variant of the coronavirus is sinking the European markets, in the wake of the Asian ones and in anticipation of the launch of Wall Street where futures are in strong position.
The stoxx 600 area index fell 2.4%.
In the deep red Madrid (-3.7%), Paris (-3.3%), London (-2.7%), Frankfurt (-2.5%) and Milan (-2.9%).
The lists of the Old Continent are burdened by energy (-5%), banks (-4.5%), airline companies (-11%), tourism (-4%) and luxury (-3.2%) .
Oil was down with the WTI falling to 73.11 dollars a barrel and the Brent at 77.44 dollars.
On the currency front, the euro against the dollar rises to 1.1285.
