(ANSA) - ROME, NOVEMBER 27 - The director of Oxford VaccineGroup, the group that developed the AstraZeneca vaccine, has expressed cautious optimism that the existing sera are effective on the Omicron variant of Covid, deeming a resumption of the pandemic "unlikely".
Speaking to the BBC's Today program, Professor Andrew Pollard explained that "most of the mutations" in the Omicron variant "are found in the same places on the proteinaspike as the other variants" against which the vaccines have proven effective.
