Damascus, SANA- The General Authority of the Student Credit Fund announced the start of accepting applications for benefiting from the student loan

Damascus-SANA

The General Authority of the Student Credit Fund announced the start of accepting applications to benefit from the monthly student loan for the academic year 2021-2022, starting from the first of next December until the 31st of it.

In its announcement, which SANA received a copy of, the commission indicated that applications are accepted in the commission’s branches in the governorates exclusively, and that the value of the monthly loan is 60,000 Syrian pounds per month for medical and engineering faculties, and 50,000 Syrian pounds for the rest of the colleges and institutes.

In the announcement, the authority specified the conditions for benefiting from the monthly loan, which is that the student registered at the university (college or institute) should not have failed in the year of applying for the loan, and the student should not have previous failed years for more than half the years of study, and not be an employee, worker, or beneficiary of any salary or periodic wage From the state or any of the public or joint sector entities and to be free of liability towards the authority (that is, if the applicant was a previous beneficiary of the authority’s loans, he must have paid all his obligations).

In a statement to SANA, the director general of the authority, Mazen Asaad, explained that the loan is a monthly amount that the student receives during his school years, 9 months per year, and stops when the student fails in his school year to return and complete when he is raised to the higher school year.

With regard to repayment, Asaad indicated that after graduation, the regular student is given a period of two years, after which he can start repaying the loan in the form of successive monthly installments equal to the payments he was receiving at the time of benefit.

The monthly loan is exempted from all interests, stamps and fees, except for the delay interest upon payment, and the applications are delivered after being duly completed at the authority’s branches exclusively.

According to Asaad, the student is entitled to benefit from one type of loan (either a monthly loan or a personal loan), noting that the granting of the personal loan will be announced at 300,000 Syrian pounds after the completion of the monthly loan distribution.

The Council of Ministers decided in its weekly session on the sixteenth of this month to allocate a new financial aid to the Student Loan Fund, amounting to three billion seven hundred million Syrian pounds, with the aim of enabling the Fund to increase the value of the monthly loan for students in universities and to continue providing its services in granting loans for the current academic year.

It is expected that the Fund's services for the academic year 2021-2022, after the increase, will cover about 15,000 male and female students (monthly or personal loans).
