With the participation of researchers and academics from the homeland and the diaspora, the Higher Institute for Research and Seismic Studies organized today its first international conference on building engineering “Towards more sustainable facilities” at the Reda Saeed Conference Center at Damascus University.

The conference participants reviewed, during several sessions, a set of research on the latest technologies used in the field of construction worldwide, as well as the optimal use of energy and natural resources to achieve their sustainability and allow the development of smart and sustainable construction systems that ensure the efficiency of facilities while preserving the environment.

The President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Yasar Abdeen, explained in his speech that the organization of Damascus University for such conferences confirms its will to secure all available technology to meet the needs of society and achieve self-sufficiency, which constitutes the main pillar for supporting the national economy and contributing to comprehensive development, in cooperation and partnership with all parties. In order to benefit from experiences and unify all national efforts, including institutions and individuals, to achieve the desired goal.

In turn, Dr. Hala Hassan, Dean of the Higher Institute for Research and Seismic Studies, explained that the conference included lectures by researchers from the universities (Damascus, Tishreen, Aleppo and Al-Baath), in addition to lectures given by Syrian researchers from French, German, British and Lebanese universities via the electronic platform (Zoom) with the aim of exchanging knowledge and identifying solutions and future prospects. in the business of sustainable engineering.

And from Tishreen University, Dr. Ali Khair Bek from the Faculty of Civil Engineering spoke about the possibility of using demolition points in Syria in construction work and the design of concrete used in road paving and in building dams. He explained that the use of rubble gives better results than natural gravel, especially in the speed of hardening, and this is useful in getting rid of The rubble in a civilized manner, the provision of natural resources, the reduction of pollution caused by quarries, and the great benefit of protecting the environment.

In turn, Engineer Ali Abdel Latif Ibrahim from Damascus University spoke about his participation in the conference in order to see the latest used construction techniques and transfer some of the applications used outside the country to contribute to the upgrading of construction technology locally, in addition to the great assistance provided by the conference to researchers to know the existing technologies locally and the possibility of developing them and benefiting from the rubble Construction work.
