The Gucci family has threatened legal action against the film "House of Gucci" by British director Ridley Scott.
"The Gucci family reserves the right to take any initiative to protect their name and image as well as that of their loved ones," quoted the Italian news agency Ansa on Monday from a letter from the heirs of the founder of the famous Italian fashion house.
The film "House of Gucci" is about the murder of the fashion heir Maurizio Gucci (played by Adam Driver) in the 1990s.
A court found his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani - played by Lady Gaga in the film - guilty of having commissioned the murder.
She then spent 18 years in prison.
According to the letter, the family is particularly bothered by the fact that Reggiani is portrayed "as a victim" despite her conviction.
In addition, the members of the Gucci family would be portrayed as "rioters, ignorant and insensitive to the world around them."
The Gucci family has had nothing to do with the luxury fashion house since the 1990s.
This is now owned by the Kering group founded by the French entrepreneur François Pinault.
